By combining this lens with select X-Series camera bodies with Lens Modulation Optimiser (LMO) technology, the performance from the lens is improved even further. LMO corrects for diffraction to produce images with edge-to-edge sharpness and create a realistic three-dimensional effect, even at small apertures. A Twin Linear Motor autofocus system delivers fast, smooth, near-silent performance that is especially beneficial to video applications and when working in noise-sensitive areas. Autofocus speeds are rated as fast as 0.06 seconds. In macro mode at the wide-angle end the lens provides a minimum focus distance of 11.8", enabling the user to be very close to their subject and still maintain sharp focus. Nine rounded diaphragm blades contribute to a pleasing out-of-focus quality to benefit the use of selective focus and shallow depth of field techniques.
